Our Approach to Ingredients
Frio Fragrances is built on generations of expertise in natural fragrance ingredients. Our family’s history in perfumery began with Texarome, where we’ve spent decades perfecting the distillation of Texas Cedarwood oil and other natural extracts. While our roots are in naturals, we also embrace the innovation that modern perfumery allows—creating balanced, long-lasting fragrances that capture the beauty of Texas.
Why We Use Both Naturals & Synthetics
Some of the most iconic scents in perfumery come straight from nature: bright citrus, deep woods, and delicate florals. But not every note can be extracted naturally, and some raw materials are too scarce or inconsistent for sustainable sourcing. That’s where aroma chemicals come in.
Aroma chemicals can either be naturally derived (extracted from plants) or created synthetically in a lab to replicate or enhance scents that don’t exist in nature. By using a thoughtful blend of naturals and synthetics, we create high-quality fragrances that are complex and true to our vision.
Using a thoughtful blend of naturals and synthetics allows us to:
- Enhance complexity – Some scents, like musk, vanilla, and abstract accords, can only be fully realized with synthetics.
- Ensure consistency – Natural ingredients vary between harvests, but synthetics can help maintain a consistent scent experience.
- Support sustainability – Some natural materials, like certain florals and woods, are overharvested. Using synthetics where necessary helps reduce environmental strain.
Quality & Safety
Though not required in the U.S., every fragrance we create follows IFRA (International Fragrance Association) safety standards and is free from phthalates and parabens. Our high concentration of fragrance oils ensures each fragrance is bold and long-lasting, so you get a true, high-quality fragrance experience.
